Police saved Lahore from big disaster: IG
LAHORE: Police officials have saved Lahore from a major disaster by bravely resisting the terrorists at the motorway Babu Sabu checkpost, Punjab Police Inspector General (IG) Tariq Saleem Dogar said on Monday. During a visit to the Mayo Hospital, where those injured in the attack were being treated, he said free medical treatment would be provided to the injured police officials and issued instructions to the hospital’s administration and the police officers in this regard. He said the morale of the Punjab Police was high in the fight against terrorism. The IG also visited Rawalpindi, where he presided over a special meeting of police officers. The meeting decided to constitute a joint investigation team, consisting of the Rawalpindi Police and the Crime Investigation Department (CID), to probe into a suicide attack in Rawalpindi, which resulted in 35 deaths. The meeting was informed the joint investigation team would ensure complete its investigations at the earliest and submit its report to the Punjab government.Addressing the meeting, the IG directed the members of the investigation team to carry out the investigation on “war-footings” and that necessary guidance and assistance should be obtained from the investigation reports of previous cases of this nature. staff report
